Privacy and Cookies

Cookies are tiny text files that are created in your web browser's temporary files folder. They act as a memory of a site preference or a session on a site. For example, to use any e-commerce site you'll need cookies enabled as they store session data about you, your shopping basket and other settings. This is not harmful, and is how the Internet works.

Some cookies do track web usage, for example: to tailor advertisements on sites to previous browsing habits (Hint: Facebook loves to do this). While this in itself is not harmful, it's not always desirable.

That's the whole purpose of this page. We want to be straight and honest about how we use your data. It's now a legal requirement for us to do so too. The information that follows will describe exactly what data we collect and how we use it. We only store cookies for the following:

  • Google Analytics
  • Remembering your preferences for site functionality

That's it. We don't need to store cookies for anything else. We've disabled them wherever else possible. If you notice our site is storing any other cookie, please contact us and let us know so we can investigate.

In the future, we may require further cookies to be set (if we add things like user log in, further commenting systems, etc). If this ever happens, we'll detail them on this page too, so you'll always know where you stand.

Google Analytics data is anonymous and aggregated, and thus cannot be used to track you in any way or personally identify you.

We also do not, under any circumstances, pass on or sell any data we collect either from Google Analytics or filled-in contact forms.

Most browsers allow you to completely block cookies. We're not going to tell you how to do this (hint: go into browser settings and have a look, or if you use a browser which supports extensions or add-ons, look there), because in most cases it's unnecessary. We do not use banner advertising on our site and therefore no 3rd party advertising cookies will be left on your machine from visiting our site (other than those mentioned earlier).
